説明RosmalenIn 1958, the Austin Healey Sprite MK 1 was launched by the British Motor Corporation manufacturer. The starting point was to make an affordable sports car. In order to reduce costs as much as possible, as many existing components from the Austin A30/A35 as possible were used for this car. The Sprite was originally designed by the constructors of the Donald Healey Motor Company, who sold the rights to BMC. The MK I was called the Frog Eye because of its characteristically placed headlights on the hood. The MK II was developed from this in 1961. The body was modified and the headlights were placed in the normal position in the fenders. In 1964 the MK III was introduced with again numerous improvements. For example, the side windows could be rotated in the doors and door handles with locks and a curved windscreen were used. The engine had a capacity of 1098cc while the entire block had become stronger thanks to the larger and better crankshaft bearings. The history of The Lenham Motor CompanyJulian Booty and Peter Rix founded their vintage car restoration business in Lenham Square in 1962. After a year, a customer asked the company to make a new body for its Mk 1 Sprite. They designed and built a sleek aluminum Grand Touring roof. Other customers wanted that too. It was impossible to build them all by hand from aluminum, so a mold was made so that future body kits could be made from fiberglass. With the arrival of the Mark III Sprite with hinged door windows, the opportunity was created for an all-new bodyset to transform the MK III into a sleek GT car, the Lenham GT Coupe was born!About this Lenham GT CoupeThis car started life as a normal Healey Sprite, delivered new to Lenham for conversion. A big advantage is that an MK III has been used as a basis, which has already received numerous improvements from the factory. In 1965 this GT Coupe was delivered to its proud English owner. Incidentally, only 20 cars in the same version were produced. This Lenham GT Coupe has undergone its second metamorphosis in the Netherlands. In 1991 a Dutch Lenham fan bought the car from the English owner. The new owner has in the following years transformed his Lenham GT Coupe into a true technical work of art, with rally commitment being the main goal. The changes and adjustments were preceded by a great deal of preparation and thinking. Judging by the finishing of the smallest details, we suspect that a perfectionist-minded mechanical engineer has been at work here. The result obtained is therefore many times better than the original design. The interior of this rally machine is fully equipped with tripmaster, speedmaster, chronometers and communication equipment to participate professionally in rallies, the equipment is time-correct and dates from the late nineties. The steering wheel, the control switches, the bucket seats, rally belts and roll cage, in short, everything is coordinated and forms a correct combination. The car has a FIVA Identity Card.
