| 説明 | This is the mirror bar case for a US Signal Service heliograph. It is described in [1] as "CASE, type BG-34, Carrying: a small sole-leather case, with nickeled brass fittings, sliding by means of 2 loops upon the carrying strap of Case, type BG-35; Dimensions, 13 by 2 1/2 by 1 1/8 inches; used to contain mirror bar, type HL-3 in Set, heliograph, type EE-16. Drawing-32501C6. Numerical code 800-529.I suspect that the left belt loop is a repair - the stitching should match that on the right. I similarly suspect the top flap (attached with rivets) is a replacement - I've seen three other such cases, and none of them had rivets in that position (but two have them had had the top flap tear off, so a likely item to repair).Collage of photographs against a 1" grid with 10 minor divisions per inch.
