| 説明 | Two views of the pier at Achnacroish on the island of Lismore. This was built on 1880, but modified and added to over the years before replacement of the ferry by ro-ro craft that only require a slipway. The island lies in Loch Linnhe, although the waters on the east side (seen here) is usually known as the Lynn of Lorn. A plaque on the structure gives the date 1880, John Strainge - Engineer, M&K McDonald & J Goodwin & Coy Contractors. Lismore is a fairly small island, less than ten miles long and just over a mile wide, in 2022 supporting a population of around two hundred, an increase on ten years earlier, although a century or so earlier still the number had exceeded a thousand, whilst in 1841 it was recorded as 1399. |
