| 説明 | Lydney docks were developed in the 1830s to enable a plateway to bring coal mined in the Forest of Dean to the River Severn, where it was tipped into barges for onward shipment. The last train was tipped from No.9 Tip in 1960. The site is now a conservation area. The basin is entered through a large sea lock, needed to control the very large tidal range of the River Severn, and is now a marina. The old Mortuary building is now the toilet block and various other original buildings have been re-purposed. |
