| 説明 | ohn H. Morrison was the superintendent of the Northridge Local School distric from 1933 to 1956. He followed D.A. Puderbaugh who was superintendent from 1926 to 1933. Many people consider Morrison the first superintendent of Northridge local Schoos. Some do not. Their conclusions depend upon the imterpretation of the events of that time○ Ebenezer schools were formed in 1923, and the original phase of Ebenezer Junior high (later named Esther dennis Middle School) was built in 1926 for graders 6-9. Grades 10-12 attended schools in the Dayton school system. Puderbaugh was hireds in 1926.○ On June 16, 1931, the Ebenzer Rural School District became the Northridge Local School District. By 1932 an eighteen-room addition had been added to the Junior High enabling grades 1-11 to attend, seniors continued attending Dayton schools.○ Under the leadership of the newly-hired superintendent, John H. Morrison (1933), the first thirty-one member senior class graduated from northridge Local Schools in 1934.The dilemma....Puderbaugh was made superintendent in 1926 when the district was called Ebenezer. he continued as superintendent after the district's name was changed to Northridge. he could be considered the district's first superintendent. Morrison was the first superintendent hired by the newly nenamed Northridge local Schools. he presided over the first senior class to attend Northridge schools and to graduate from the same. he coule be considered the first superintendent. In either case....John H. morrison served northridge as superintendent for 23 years and before that was principal of the centralized junior high. morrison guided Northridge through the difficult economic times of the 1930's and the war years of the 1940's.After WW II he had to copewith the rapid expansion of families moving to the suburbs and the rise of student enrollment. Under his leadership, while spending many countless hours of his personal time, he passed bond issues and oversaw the addition of nine more classrooms and a cafeteria at the now centralized school (grades 1-12) in 1945, the construction of Timberlane in 1952, Grafton kennedy in 1952, and the addition of eight more rooms to Grafton kennedy in 1955.As hugh sauer (superintendent from 1956-76) and others have noted, Morrison was dedicated to Northridge and he was a generous man. According to sauer, Morrison often helped teachers and students overcome the lack of supplies by payinf for them out of his own pocket. On anorther occasion, he was found aerating the sewage system performing maintenance for the distric. At other times, Morrison sought the aid of and worked as a team with community members and faculty like Frank kelley, dave herring and others to fight for the betterment, not only of the Northridge schools, but the community as well.As a result of his service. Dedication, and generosity the district honored him in 1959 by naming the system's newest building the Jhohn H. morrison School.John H. Morrison was nominated by Ruth miller Bolen Howell who was a member of the forst graduating Class of 1934. |
