| 説明 | Photos of the Pathfinder Tours weekend excursion to Scotland, Easter 2023. Caledonian MacBrayne 'Loch Striven' arrives at Achnacroish, Lismore with the 1415 sailing from Oban on a dull but not too cold April day. The 'Loch Striven' was built in 1986 by Richard Dunston (Hessle) Ltd, near Hull. After spending ten years operating out of Largs, the vessel moved to the Sconser-Raasay crossing, where it spent 16 years before the move to its current service, the Oban to Lismore (Achnacroish) run in 2014. The island lies in Loch Linnhe, although the waters on the east side (seen here) is usually known as the Lynn of Lorn. Lismore is a fairly small island, less than ten miles long and just over a mile wide, in 2022 supporting a population of around two hundred, an increase on ten years earlier, although a century or so earlier still the number had exceeded a thousand, whilst in 1841 it was recorded as 1399. |
