| 説明 | 'Pinterest' has thrown this Leicester Mercury photo my way, so I've added a little colour.Looking southeast from a public footbridge northwest of the original 1840 station, It shows that the old platforms had been removed following closure in March 1968.A figure walking between the rails of the Down Passenger line may be inspecting recently relaid track.The impressively tall signal box only functioned as a 'block post', to shorten the sections between Sileby and Loughborough, having control of no points after the goods yard was removed.The Peak is on what was then the Up Goods Line, many years later the goods lines became 'Slow Lines' flanked by new passenger platforms beyond the far bridge in this photo. |
