| 説明 | Built in 1888-1889, this Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival-style building stands in the middle of the Westwood Town Square between Harrison Avenue, Montana Avenue, and Epworth Avenue in Cincinnati’s Westwood neighborhood. The red brick building features a stone base, limestone trim, shingle cladding on the upper levels and attic, a large tower with an open belfry and turret, multiple oriel windows, arched entranceways, multiple porches and exterior stairways, and a variety of window sizes and shapes. The building was the city hall for Westwood until 1896, when it was annexed by the city of Cincinnati, after which it served as a fire station for about another decade, and was in use as a local YMCA from 1894 until 1966. The building is a contributing structure in the Westwood Town Center Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The building has since served as a community center and recreation center, undergoing a major renovation in 2005 to modernize the interior of the building, with the surrounding town square being completely reimagined between 2017 and 2020 in a community-led effort to revitalize the area and help it better meet the needs of local residents. |
