| 説明 | Here’s a top-down 3D model of the Commonwealth Fusion reactor currently under construction in Massachusetts. The ring of 18 rectangles, looking like the company logo, are the Toroidal Field Magnets. These are the record-setting high-temp superconducting D-shaped magnets that run at 20 tesla. Photos here. They surround the Central Solenoid Coil, another custom-wound superconducting magnet.All of this provides magnetic confinement of the hot plasma in a ring circulating through the hollow center of the D-shaped magnets. This is in lieu of gravity, a lot of gravity, that keeps the sun burning bright. When this SPARC lights, it will be a tiny star in a bottle. |
