| 説明 | Built in 1940, this buff brick Art Deco-style fire station was built to house Ladder Company 10 and Engine Company 24 of the Cincinnati Fire Department, and stands on Glenway Avenue in Cincinnati’s West Price Hill neighborhood. Replacing an earlier station, the fire station offered larger quarters with three garage bays, and was more centrally located within the growing Price Hill section of the city, further from existing fire stations west of Mill Creek in the downtown basin. The fire station features an asymmetrical buff brick front facade with limestone trim, six windows over the garage bays, limestone trim around the garage doors, a side-gable roof with gable parapets, a side wing with an entrance door framed by limestone trim with the city’s seal on the exterior of the second floor, and decorative brick banding. The rear of the building features a flat roof and hose drying tower, with round openings on the east and west facades. The building operated in its original configuration until 2010, when it was renovated and expanded with a new contemporary wing to the west, featuring narrow bands of windows and red block masonry at the base, housing additional quarters and facilities for the firefighters. The fire station today houses two fire trucks and an ambulance, serving the city’s west side north of Sayler Park and south of Westwood. |
