| 説明 | Bells Bridge, Built in 1988 as a "temporary" structure for pedestrians going from the north side of the river Clyde to the Glasgow Garden Festival, Bell's Bridge was sponsored by the whisky company of the same name. Crossing from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (and an adjacent railway station), it is still useful not just for local residents but also to get to the Glasgow Science Centre on the south bank of the river. The building seen at the other end of the bridge is the Clyde Auditorium, known locally as the "Armadillo" because of its shape. Built at a time when ships were still regularly sailing further up-river, the bridge still swings on a central support to allow the new river ferry service to pass through at high tide. |
