| 説明 | The Hotel Wartenstein from 1885, at the northernmost point of Pfäfers on the border with Bad Ragaz. It is also called a castle, but that is a bit of an exaggeration. It looks a lot nicer inside than outside. The location high on a rock is unique. Maienfeld is straight ahead and Bad Ragaz is on the far left. From 2016 to 2020 the hotel with ten rooms belonged to the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. This hotel was a crucial point in the project for the reconstruction of the historic Wartenstein funicular. The sale of the hotel called everything into question. The new owner promised to reopen the hotel and restaurant, even before a planned renovation. That didn’t come true. Indeed the hotel is open, but only for private renters. It is not known whether the opening to the general public was only suspended during the Corona measures. The Wartenstein funicular project is still on hold. Let's hope that a rich lout doesn't come and tear it down to build his villa. The building is not under protection.
