| 説明 | HUMPHREYS GARRISON – For Soldiers here, one of their main functions is to help maintain peace and be ready at a moment’s notice for any unfortunate situations on the Korean peninsula.However, some Soldiers take time out of their already busy schedules to find ways to interact with the Korea populous and help to improve the image of the U.S. Army with local nationals.One particular instance of Soldiers going out of their way to impart a friendly gesture to the surrounding community involves Soldiers from the 4th Attack Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, also known as the “Death Dealers,” spending time at a local orphanage.Ironically, the only thing these Soldiers “deal” out to the local community, are smiles.For these Soldiers, doing volunteer work in the community is the best way to communicate with their Korean partners and one of the most rewarding experiences they can undertake during their tour here.On Oct. 21, in gratitude of their volunteer service to the orphanage, 10 Soldiers and four Family members from the unit were invited to a local charity bazaar hosted by the Eastern Pyeongtaek Welfare Town, at the Jacobs Orphanage, in Pyeongtaek.Jacobs Orphanage is one of many facilities that are supported by the Eastern Pyeongtaek Welfare Town and takes care of 43 children. The 4-2 Soldiers visit there every week to spend time with them.The Jacobs Orphanage program is just one part of unit’s Good Neighbor Program. The Pyeongtaek University Conversational English Program and the An-Nil Junior High School English Program are also supported under the 4-2 Good Neighbor Program. U.S. Army photos by Pfc.
