| 説明 | Pin-tailed whydah finches are songbirds native to Sub-Sahara Africa. They came to Southern California via the pet trade, and are now found here in the wild. The bad news, besides being invasive, is that they are "brood parasites", meaning that they lay eggs in the nests of other species and leave them there for the other species to hatch and raise along with that bird's natural eggs. So far the preferred nests have been those of a bird from India, the Scaly-breasted Munia; so, another invasive bird. The good news is that they are super CUTE! |
