| 説明 | Pictured is a clam tissue sample collected from Lower Three Runs stream in an HPGe well detector surrounded by high purity lead bricks and copper. The SRNL detector measures ultra-trace levels of gamma emitters, detecting ~200 femtocuries (10E-15 Ci) of Cesium-137 for this sample. It is located in a vault made of four-inch thick armor plate steel from the pre-World War II aircraft carrier USS Antietam buried 48 feet below A Area and backfilled with several feet of specular hematite, clay and borated cement.By: Heather Brant, Ashlee Swindle and Dr. George King, Non-proliferation and SafeguardsSavannah River National Laboratory |
