説明 | Black Slug Cup Moth (Doratifera casta) caterpillars which skeletonized vast numbers of eucalypt leaves last spring and summer in Dungog Common Recreation Reserve NSW 2420. Where does the common name come from? Black Slug, as the caterpillars move like slugs because their legs are reduced. Cup Moth, as the pupa are enclosed in a spherical smooth woody cocoon, they cut the top out of the cocoon to emerge, leaving a structure which looks like a cup.More information at lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/lima/casta.htmlwww.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane.../BlackSlug.htm |
