| 説明 | St. George Stake TabernacleIn 1863, Orson Pratt , Amasa M Lyman, Erastus Snow , Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints laid the corner stones, 18 months after pioneers arrived in St. George. Truman O. Angell, Architect, Miles Romney, Supt. of construction, Assisted by Edw. L Parry, Archibald McNeil, Samuel Judd, Wm. Burt, David Wilke and may others. Peter Neilson gave $600 cash. Tower Capstone laid December, 1871. Costing over $110,000, it was dedicated 14 May 1876 by Brigham Young, Jr. (From historical marker laid in 1947)I had a day in St. George where I had to take my car in for repair. I used the day to explore, I was intrigued by this building, later in the day went on a tour, which was most enlightening.gc 116 |
