| 説明 | Erechtites hieracifolia 7/2021 American Burnweed- (Native) American Burnweed aka pilewort and fireweed, Mature size: 2-8’, lanceolate leaves, toothed margins, USDA Hardiness Zone HA, Michigan Bloom Month 8a, In Garden Bed W1 for 5.8 YEARS (Native). Planted in 2015.Erect plant with alternate, lanceolate leaves that have toothed margins. Feathery white seedheads are a key feature. The blooming period is late summer or early fall for about 3 weeks. Common name reflects belief that it quickly colonizes newly burned areas, which may not be true. Many of these weeds in the garden in 2019. They grow quickly and I have pulled some that were over 4 feet tall.Photo by F.D.Richards, SE Michigan.
