| 説明 | No, Mt Ngauruhoe is not erupting - it's just some passing cloud! After photographing Mt Ruapehu and the Kaimanawas, I wanted to get these two mountains but they were backlight from where I was so I did a tiki tour around to the other side.Mount Tongariro is a compound volcano in the Taupo Volcanic Zone of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 20 kilometres to the southwest of Lake Taupo, and is the northernmost of the three active volcanoes that dominate the landscape of the central North Island. Mount Ngauruhoe is an active stratovolcano and is the youngest vent in the Tongariro volcanic complex on the Central Plateau of the North Island, and first erupted about 2,500 years ago. Although often regarded as a separate mountain, geologically it is a secondary cone of Mount Tongariro. (Wikipedia) Lee 0.6 Med Grad. |
