| 説明 | Nightcap National Park and Rocky Creek Dam. Rocky Creek Dam and lake provides water for the Lismore to Ballina and Byron Bay region. It borders Nightcap NP and there are a number of short mainly flat walks near the lake. One leads to a viewing platform from where, with luck, you might see a platypus. This walk is 1.5 kms and takes about 30 minutes. The dam which covers 490 acres was completed in 1953 and is surrounded by subtropical rainforest, rich bird life, frogs, butterflies and other fauna. Nightcap National Park is an example of subtropical rainforest and it contains many rare and a few endangered species of trees. The park is also known for its population of Albert’s lyrebirds and Fleay’s barred frogs. Within the park are the Minyon Falls. They tumble 97 metres down sheer cliffs which were formed by lava solidifying eons ago. |
