| 説明 | The North façade of the Marble Court framed between the Screen Colonnade and the Western wall . Six Corinthian columns support an inscribed architrave. Over it six rectangular pillars define the second storey of the façade. The columns lean on a marble high podium, continuous according to the original design dating 211 AD. On the left corner an attempt of reconstruction of the original appearance done by applying marble slabs on the wall behind the columns. In the 4th century the continuous podium was cut and a passage connecting the Marble Court to the adjacent room BE-N of the Bath-Gymnasium Complex was opened. The reconstruction of the monument reports that change undergone in the Late Antiquity. Source: Fikret K. Yegül, “The Bath-Gymnasium Complex at Sardis”Sardis. Marble Court, North Façade |
