| 説明 | c/n unknownBuilt in 1945 with the US Navy Bureau No 83479.Immediately transferred to Guam, arriving there in July 1945. Did not see any combat but was allocated to VB-92 aboard USS Lexington (CV-16) who operated her from September to December 1945, after which she then returned to the United States. She remained active until March 1948 when she was stored before being allocated to the National Air Museum in March 1949 and flown to NAS Norfolk, Virginia, for further storage. She was transferred to the Smithsonian Institute in 1960 and stored outside until 1975 when she was moved to Pensacola and restored for display in the National Naval Aviation Museum, where she remained until October 2003. Delivered here in 2010, further restoration was carried out in the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar, before the aircraft went on display in 2014. She has been returned to her genuine markings from VB-92 in late 1945 and is seen on display in the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center as part of the National Air and Space Museum.Washington Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Virginia7th May 2015 |
