| 説明 | Pimpla are parasitoids that lay their eggs in the pupae of butterflies and moths. The larvae of Pimpla develop as an endoparasite in the pupa. The wasp also introduces a cytotoxic substance into the pupa upon laying to trick the pupae's immune system. Otherwise, the endoparasitoid egg could be destroyed by multilayer encapsulation of hemocyte cells. The adult wasps are usually sturdy black insects with orange markings. |
