| 説明 | A contemporary model of the Pandora Class 8-gun Brigantine Sloop HMS Dolphin at the Science Museum, South Kensington, November 2008. Designed by Surveyor of the Navy Sir William Symonds, eight ships of this class were launched in 1833-47 and one was cancelled in 1843 whilst building. The Dolphin was launched at Sheerness Dockyard in 1836, measured 90 ft x 29 ft x 14.8 ft and had a burthen of 320 tons. The standard armament for the class was 8x18 pdr carronades when used as patrol and Coastguard Watch vessels but when a ship was used as a packet it would be armed with 1x32 pdr pivot gun and 2x32 pdr carronades. The ships were often used on anti-slavery patrols. The Dolphin was broken up in 1894. |
