| 説明 | This is a 1979 reconstruction of the De Hita House, a tabby house originally built during the First Spanish Period, and owned by Gerónimo de Hita at the time of a 1764 map. The owner was a mounted dragoon, and left Florida at the start of the British period. The house was then acquired by local merchant Jesse Fish, before being sold to Captain Andrew Rainsford. However, for most of the 19th Century, the land sat vacant. The house was reconstructed as part of an effort to restore the colonial appearance of the city by the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, which reconstructed several other houses and structures from the colonial period during the 1960s and 1970s. |
