| 説明 | A very wet and stormy day, no filters used. The ruins of abandoned tin mines are found throughout the west of Cornwall, a legacy of when Tin mines were one of the main economies of the West Country. Tin prices fell and cheaper tin was imported from abroad. Many of these mines stretched far under the sea bed and were constantly having to be pumped out, hence the pump houses that remain abandoned above ground. Miners worked in these mines by candlelight and soaked to the skin. Without the background to this mine I am not sure if it was a Thomas Newcomen steam engine or one of Richard Trevithick? |
