Planted in 2018.American Daylily Society: Crimson Ninja (Gossard, 2008)height 50 in.(127 cm), bloom 8 in.(20 cm), season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, 20 buds, 4 branches, Crimson red self above green throat. (Tet. Holly Dancer × Tet. Fly Catcher)Gossard, James: 2009 introduction. Very good rust resistance. Northern Hardy. Flowers of Crimson Ninja are crimson red above a green throat. The saturated red color is very sunfast. The year in which Crimson Ninja bloomed for the first time, it was a standout. I have tried for many years to utilize the hard to use tetra Fly Catcher, it was only till I had it in the greenhouse with 25 scapes of tetra Holly Dancer blooming in which I was able to make one pod with its pollen. From this pod I bloomed 3 seedlings, Crimson Ninja was the only one selected. If you a hybridizing reds and want different genetics which have never before offered at the tet level, I highly recommend it. A side from being a good parent, it is a great garden plant.2020 Notes: 8 scapes, 0.30 inch diameter and 40 inches tall.Flowers are at 8 inches. Fairly bright red color, stands out in the garden.
