Maybe this was a coal storage room and that was a coal shute in back, just guessing.Not sure what this structure was used for but the top floor has been removed. It is not far from the Shore Battery and probably part of it.------------------------------------------------------------This the York Shore Battery, an abandoned WWII Command Centre with gun emplacements and light stations below the main York Redoubt fortifications. This is a great place to see ships coming and going from Halifax harbour.York Reboubt was established in 1793 on a bluff overlooking the Halifax harbour entrance, and expanded in the 19th and 20th centuries, it was a key element in the defence of Halifax Harbour. |
