説明 | My model of a Messerschmitt Bf109E-3 of Staffel Kapitan Josef Priller (with a final victory tally of 101), 6 Staffel, II/JG51 'Molders' stationed at Desures, Belgium, August 1940 during the Battle of Britain. It is in a standard RLM65/71/02 early war camouflage: undersurfaces RLM65 Light Blue, upper surfaces RLM71 Dark Green and RLM02 Grey Green. It is ironic that, bearing in mind the Luftwaffe's camouflage schemes were so carefully thought out, the fighter gruppen often to added their own colourful embellishments such as RLM04 Yellow noses and tail fins, although this was probably to aid snap identification in a dogfight, a highly desirable attribute in the Battle of Britain. |
