説明An unusually shaped rock at Khao Phing Kan or James Bond island, which was the shooting location for the 1974 Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. This island is part of the Ao Phang Nga National park, notes about which appeared earlier in this album, and I am here on the James Bond Islands speedboat tour out of Phuket. I initially thought that this A shaped rock formation is due to mutilation or damage done to the main cave for shooting of the Bond film, a suspicion reinforced by the sight of steps carved into the rock’s cavernous entrance. Turns out that this A shaped formation is natural as well. This A shaped portion occurred due to a crack in the original rock. The rock apparently slid down due to the force of gravity. Since the base of the rock was scoured out by the constant action of sea waves, the upper rock slid down due to it's own sheer weight leading to this A shaped formation. Thanks to the association with the Bond film I just mentioned, shedloads of tourists descend upon this island day in and day out, year after year, hence endangering the already fragile natural environment here. I hope this island does not end up getting closed due to over tourism, like the beaches around Maya Bay, which were closed due to over tourism consequent to that being the filming location for another Hollywood film The Beach.
