| 説明 | The beautiful turquoise waters of Maya Bay in the Phi Phi Islands cluster just off Phuket, Thailand. The bad news is that the beach and this bay are largely closed to the public due to damage to the coral reefs and the environment due to over tourism, especially after the 1999 Hollywood film The Beach was filmed here. Before the ban, several local long tail boats used to ferry all the visitors in and out of the islands of the Maya Bay. On any given day and especially in the mornings, there used to be at least 30 + speedboats and longtail boats on the beach, with large ferry boats carrying hundreds of snorkelers and sightseers moored in deeper waters. Beautiful it was, but secluded it wasn't. The long tail boats may be gone now, as tourists are not allowed to disembark here, but the 30+ speedboats part is still true, only they only allow their passengers to swim near the boats. Apart from the six speedboats you see in the distance, there are at least seven or eight more at this spot, including ours, and others moored next to our boat on either side.
