| 説明 | Intraluminal crystalloids associated with ductal carcinoma (DCIS) of the breast have been described only rarely. They may be present in ducts exhibiting DCIS as well as in non-neoplastic ducts. These non-birefringent crystalloids are more commonly found in the prostate where they are strongly associated with prostatic adenocarcinoma. They have also been reported to occur in ovary and salivary glands. They may be rectangular, triangular and needle-like with sharp borders. Energy-dispersive x-ray analysis indicates that the crystalloids have no mineral content, but they do contain sulfur.Left image - Crystalloids in benign ductsRight image - Crystalloids in ducts with DCIS as well as in benign ducts.Images contributed by Dr. Jeffrey Cloutier - @CloutierMD |
