説明 | I'd never seen a Snapping Turtle surface, certainly not with such abandonment as this turtle showed today. I thought it might be a tree trunk or perhaps some kind of rock that managed to float or even our own version of a loch monster. As often as I have seen turtles submerge, you'd think I would not be surprised to see one surface. It was the rolling that got me, I think--and how long the activity continued. Thank you for your visit. I do hope you'll come back. (By the way, for regulars who remember the one-footed goose whose photo I posted back in June or July, I have sad news. After missing him and worrying about him for several weeks, I found out that a groundskeeper had found his body and gently and respectfully buried him. )UPDATE: I learned today that it was the domesticated Muscovy Duck and NOT the one-footed Canada Goose whose remains were found. It is probable, though, that some predator has killed the Goose. I have not seen it for a couple of months.) |
