| 説明 | Thank you for your patience- let's get just one more of the exquisite carvings in the Sundari chowk courtyard of the Patan museum in Lalitpur/ Patan, shall we? Here is a 12-handed Hindu deity in the Lalitpur/ Patan museum. This was rather unusual- the maximum number of hands I've seen so far on a Hindu deity is ten. Now I am not particularly religious, so I cannot tell you which Hindu god this statue represents, but it is an interesting work of art nonetheless. The Patan museum is housed in the former Royal palace and hence has several fabulous pieces of art, some of them over a thousand years old, displayed here in the open in the Sundari chowk or indoors in the museum upstairs. Detailed notes about the Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar square where I am now appeared earlier in this album (see previous pictures) and will also appear later as we go along in this album (Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar Square, Nepal, Oct/ Nov 2019) |
