| 説明 | Minyip.The town was surveyed in 1875 and the early farmers were German Lutherans from Hamilton Vic and Naracoorte SA. They built a church and school 6kms outside of the town at Kirchheim. An implements works began in 1878 and the town grew quickly despite not having a rail connection until 1886. By 1883 the town had four hotels, three stores and a public hall. Many old buildings remain in the town. The local courthouse dates from 1886; the local newspaper building where The Guardian was published dates from 1885 (it is now the local historical society); both the Club Hotel (1907) and the Commercial Hotel (1908) date from Edwardian times and were featured in the TV series the Flying Doctors. In the main street is a Presbyterian Church and on the highway out of town is a clicker brick Anglican Church (1932) and on the outskirts of town is the old original and more recent Lutheran churches. The little old church was built at Kirchheim in 1889 and moved to this site in 1935 and it is heritage listed. |
