説明 | (~4.6 centimeters across at its widest)--------------------------Fulgurites are glassy-textured, lightning-fused sediments. The term only applies if the lightning is 100% natural - that is, not induced by lightning rods or wires or poles, etc. The vesicular- to frothy-textured, glassy sample seen here is a pseudofulgurite - it is not natural. It formed when electricity heated and fused surface materials after a utility-grade power line was downed in 2012 or 2013.Locality: Lock Road, just outside the town of Centerburg, near the Knox County-Licking County border, Ohio, USA |
