| 説明 | Church of St Michael & All Angels, Brampton Abbots Herefordshire (Brampton = Broom settlement- Abbotts referring to its ownership by the abbots of St Peter's Abbey Gloucester from pre 1086 Domesday until the 16c Reformation) Built of local sandstone, the nave and chancel are 12c with restoration in 14c which included a south porchIn 16c a "pointed" chancel arch was set on Norman pillars and the west wall was repaired in 1686 along with the bell turret. In the 19c the church was restored by architect George Frederick Bodley. Later the bell turret which holds 3 bells, was largely re-built, the vestry added on the north side of the chancel and the south porch rebuilt reusing some of the 14c timbers. The present interior is largely due to the restoration of 1907-8 by Arts & Crafts architect, William Douglas Caroe with woodwork including a new screen and reredosInside is the brass figure of Joan Rudhall of 1500 www.flickr.com/gp/52219527@N00/pwoShM recovered from under the chancel floor in 1897 & also a more modern brass to rector Rev William Hulme who died in 1890 www.flickr.com/gp/52219527@N00/2YXYf5The church has been in need of repair since c2008 and closed for worship since 2012 , with services taking place in the school and village hall.
