| 説明 | en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Onslow_Fordwww.tate.org.uk/servlet/ViewWork?cgroupid=999999961&w...This is a small bronze that was very rarely seen or photographed before 2010, which made it even more unfortunate that my shots of it contain so many stray reflections. (It has since been put back on hopefully permanent display, and I've taken more photos which you'll find elsewhere in my photostream.)It's a companion piece to Ford's The Singer. Once again we have a nude girl with an ornate headdress, sitting on what looks like an art deco pedestal, except that the statue was executed in 1893, almost three decades before art deco and the craze for Egyptology began. Talk about being ahead of his time!It turns out that this statue wasn't originally a part of the Tate collection, but was privately-owned. I'm glad the owners decided to loan it for exhibition. They have subsequently leased it to the Tate.In the background above centre right you can just about see Alfred Gilbert's Comedy and Tragedy. |
