| 説明 | This is The Fort in Riva. Now it is a Museum. Earlier went up the Apponale Tower and got leaflets about the Museum, but we didn't have any time to go in (only had an hour in Riva).Built following an agreement in the 12th century between Altemanno and the townspeople of Riva del Garda, it was later enlarged by the Della Scala family, the Venetians, and the Bishop Princes of Trento. The Austrians renovated it in 1852. It houses the Civic Museum with archeological, geological and mineralogical exhibits, an art gallery, and collections of weapons, prints and rare books.Civic Museum - Piazza Battisti, 3 - phone: 0464-573869Admission is free for visitors under 20 and over 60 years of age.Bridge to the old fort.It is surrounded by a moat.the Rocca ("Fortress"), founded by the Scaligeri from Verona (XIV century), then restructured by Venetians in the 15th century and also later by the Lords from Trent. In its structure (the quadrangular plan, angular towers, courtyards), the Rocca recalls very closely the other famous Rocca, also founded by the Scaligeri at Sirmione in the 13th century. The fortress is eneterd by the original drawbridge. Within the fort it is also possible to admire the splendid collection of volumes of the Civic Library, and the Civic Museum. |
