| 説明 | This metal cube sculpture is located in an open plaza at the headquarters of the Principal Financial Group (the building visible in the background was designed by Helmut Jahn).I'm not sure what the name of the sculpture is and, apparently, you are not supposed to see this photograph of it.This was the first time this has happened to me, but a rent-a-cop came out and told me I couldn't take photos of the building. This in spite of the fact that (a) this plaza, which was created by closing a city street, is accessible to the public (people were walking through it while I was there) and (b) there were no signs or any other indication not to take a photo.I was surprised by this reaction. Principal is a major employer and a great corporate citizen that supports a number of significant community projects and have progressive policies on behalf of their employees. Ironically, they even have one of the most significant corporate art collections in the world (apparently you just can't take a photo of it). When asked why, the guard said "well, you know, ever since 9/11 . . ." OK, that was 9 years ago and 1,000 miles away, but it wasn't worth an argument since he was obviously told what to say by someone above him. |
