| 説明 | "I am writing this from a hotel room in ‘Friscoe so I don’t have to worry about the censors reading the letter. The last move I made was Palau where the “old man” took our packet in so close I thought he wanted us to throw hand grenades on the shore batteries, but it certainly gave us a grand stand seat for the fighting ashore. It was one of the grandest spectacles I ever expect to see. Up until this time I had only seen the fighting in my own vicinity and as a rule you were so busy ducking that you didn’t see very much, but here the fighting was spread out like a giant panorama. You could take your pick of the action from the initial landing, the battle for the air-strip, to the last assault on “Bloody Nose”"From the Edward L.
