| 説明 | "November 22, 1944Dear Dad:I am now nearing the end of the greatest binge that was ever thrown by a member of the Parke family. Doctor’s orders so my conscience is quite clear. It seems as though I was getting very snappish and hard to get along with so the Executive Officer had the ships doctor take a look at me. The doctor’s prescription was ten days leave with plenty of women and liquor. I have followed his advice to the letter and now find myself some seven hundred dollars poorer, tangled up with three girls, and in full possession of a hangover that was designed for nothing smaller than a horse. To top it off I don’t know whether I feel any differently or not. Life was so much simpler out in the Islands."From the Edward L. Parke Collection (COLL/5627) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
