Planted in 2006.Peony 'Chippewa' (Murawska, 1943) is a double, lactiflora cultivar: tall at ~40”, dark black red, velvety texture, some stamens visible, midseason bloomer, long red stems, side-buds, strong grower, good cut flower, needs support. Not offered in recent nursery catalogs. Bred by A.L. Murawska (1893-1968) River Grove, Illinois who has 42 peonies listed with APS.
