説明 | The kitschy "khnum across times witness" pavilion, sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and curated by Ahmed Chiha. It features artists Islam Abdullah, Ahmed Chiha, and Ahmed Abdel Karim, though where the work on one began and the other ended wasn't quite clear. The pavilion description on the biennale website read:khnum across times witness. May you live in interesting times while we live our present as we search for the essence of past times. In our search, we met people who lived and coexisted peacefully. Their civilisation linked Earth with Heaven, which taught them patience, wisdom, and contemplation. This civilisation taught them the secrets of every field of knowledge, medicine, engineering, mummification, and astronomy. The depth of the past sent us a messenger to narrate what was witnessed during that very long journey. The messenger who was sent is Khnum, the trusted guard of the temple’s secrets and teller of history. When Khnum calls out, only the contemplated wise can hear the calls. When we hear his voice, we see the face that reflects what has been experienced and seen on the eventful road he watches over.www.labiennale.org/en/art/2019/national-participations/egypt |
