| 説明 | OK- this lady in the middle is older and wiser than this joyful picture betrays. She is a grandmother to 8 children. 3 years ago she nursed her daughter through a terminal illness, and not realising how to take care of herself ended up seroconverting. She is now HIV~ positive but receiving medical care and follow-up. But she is now taking care of 8 granchildren- the youngest 3 are also HIV postive-though all are well at the moment. The other 2 people in the picture are Mary on the rght-one of the ICROSS community support workers, and on the left is the eldest grandchild- who attends scholol every day together with her brothers and sisiters and is a young lady with ambition. The family is managing but only with the help of ICROSS who have given them education as to how to manage living positively with family members who are HIV poaitve. They also support and encourage the children to attend full time education and support and help the grandmother in caring for her grandchildren, A generation has been lost to AIDS but in the people who are left is an indomitable spirit and a conviction that there is hope and that all will be well. |
