| 説明 | Athlete, diskos thrower. Halteres on the floor. The solo athlete was a particularly favored motif on cups, both between the eyes on the outside of an “eye-cup” and in the interior tondo. Athletes engaged in various activities were figured in this way; we find jumpers (particularly favored on the tondos of cups), javelin and discus throwers, hoplite runners, and athletes running or preparing to run, using picks, or oiling or scraping themselves.Source: Robin Osborn, “The Transformation of Athens”. iBooks.CAV / CAVI @ www.beazley.ox.ac.ukAttic red-figured kylix Ca. 510 – 500 BCManner of the Epeleios PainterCittà del Vaticano, Musei Vaticani, Museo Gregoriano Etrusco, inv. no. 34987. |
