| 説明 | after hit and run by a driver making an illegal right turn from market st onto the highway onramp landed a woman in the hospital with a collapsed lung, police did not cite the motorist who claimed he didn't know he hit anyone. he was cited for only the illegal right turn, not for the hit and run, therefore making him not liable for her medical bills. the sfbc demanded action at the protest: enforcement of the no right turn on the seemingly convenient way to get from market st to the highway, signage to indicate to drivers where they can get onto the highway, and streetscape changes such as barriers to prevent the cars from making the dangerous turn and colored pavement for bike lanes.the right turn is dangerous because it cuts through a fast-moving downhill bike lane, putting bikes in a collision course with cars.before the protest, the city place a temporary sign for motorists. just hours after the protest, the city placed plastic reflectors to disuade motorists from the illegal right turn at the intersection. as of now, there is permanent signage for drivers. now for colored pavement! |
