| 説明 | Brighton. Dunlace Castle. This rather amazing suburban residence which once overlooked the waters of St Vincent Gulf at Brighton in Adelaide but is now surrounded by suburban homes. It was built on land bought from the Catholic Church and building of the castle began in 1904. The residents, Reverend Alexander Macully and his family moved into the castle with its rounded turreted or crenelated tower in 1910. It was based on the design of one small wing of Dunlace Castle in Antrim Northern Ireland. Dunlace has 13 main rooms including a bedroom in the round tower and some outbuildings. The Edwardian interior has original fireplaces, an Australian Blackwood staircase, leadlight windows and cedar ceiling panels. It is currently run as a bed and breakfast and venue for parties and social functions. |
