説明 | Note for next 48 images: "Area "E" Shore Party Battalion, H/S Company. Shore Party Communications Teams located at Ascom City ie Allied Service Command approximately 18 miles north of Inchon and south of the Han River at Seoul. It came just south of the 2 small villages Bupyeong and Yong Dong PO. It was also the home of a POW camp and "Able" Co of Shore Party Battalion. The sea bags of all 1st Marine Division members were in various areas by replacement draft no. in a large warehouse. When I was with the comm teams they would participate in Marlexes when different units would come off the MLR and go into reserve. Marlexes were held in the Tokchock Islands, S.W. of Inchon.""There were APAs, LSTs, and LSDs. I enjoyed the LSD the most. They usually had milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, also I would go ashore in an amphibian vehicle and not get wet feet. Also no going down cargo nets loaded with pack, rifle, etc. but also would have PRC 6 radios and batteries, about 1/2 to 3/4 mile of comm wire and maybe a EE8 field phone. Most of the time life was quite good at Shore Party ie. liberty in Seoul or Inchon."From the Ronald Trayer Collection (COLL/5635) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
