| 説明 | This image has an other-worldly atmosphere to it. It is believed to have been the work of the official war photographer John Warwick Brooke. The soldiers and their horses are standing in the middle of jagged piles of wood, which appear to have been a shelter of some sort. They are standing surrounded by broken of trees and shrouded in mist.Reconnaissance and transport by horse was such a major success that recently an experiment by the Germans to poison horses has been uncovered. Sugar cubes, used as treats, were found which had been contaminated with the anthrax virus.[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE RECENT BRITISH ADVANCE ON THE WESTERN FRONT.
